Shirtless Saturday: Various Strongmen In All Manners Of Undress

Looks like a Fishbone song (“Sunless Saturday“) has inspired me to create this particular Saturday theme: “Shirtless Saturday”…

So on this Shirtless Saturday, we find a couple of shirtless behemoths involved in the wonderful world of Strength Athletics, more popularly known as Strongman Competitions…

I found most of these photos from a long-running blog that I just recently uncovered: Mature & Bear Men Hideaway (it has a plethora of full frontals, so this blog is NSFW).  The author tends to prefer the muscular and “smaller” (subjective, of course) bears while I tend to get attracted to the “bigger” and “chubbier” types…

Ah, yes, the bullgoon model, Gerard Benderoth, in all his bulky & sweaty glory

The thick, wide, & massive Ukranian, Vasyl Virastyuk

*boing* That’s right, I went there.  -_^
I mean, c’mon, Grant Higa and Matty Parkes?  Woof-dee daisy!

HELP!  Who are these beautiful massive men (especially the big bear on the right)?

Irek Kuras is in need of a clean up…  Any volunteers?

HELP AGAIN!  Vladimir Kalinichenko is unfortunately clothed in the photo,
but who are the other three (especially the big bear on the right)?

As for the final two photos, I know that the strongman on the very right is Alexander Pekanov.  But, dear Lord, who is that handsome furry bear on the very left?  *boing boing* indeed!  -_^

Unfortunately, WordPress detects certain urls as “spam” even though it’s not, which would explain the delay of some of your comments…

So if you guys posted something and it’s not showing up right away, it’s because it got filtered as spam and I would have to “de-spam” it. Also, for some reason, the YouTube links on the comments are being detected as spam. Hopefully there’s a way for me to create a “rule” for that…

    1. You know this is really messed up. I’m really making a good guess that you are not Jay Hagadorn. Because Mr. Hagadorn and his friends (except for Andrew Palmer — one of the only few good persons with a heart there) really made their thoughts known here:

      http://marunde-muscle.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16654

Speaking of which, I made some of my thoughts known here…

      http://www.runboard.com/bearmythology.f1.t33

Sure it’s cowardly of me to not say this on your board. But I am gay, right? While you guys are brave macho muscle men. You guys don’t leave childish comments on other people’s blogs pretending to be someone you are not. Yep. That’s right.

      1. Bearmythology,

It is always odd how people on one side of the fence can not understand how people on the other side feel. Personally I have no problem with Gay men. Growing up my mom did interior design and had many gay friends at our house. As I got older my sister had many gay(male) friends too and a roommate that I have hung out with many times. I have even been dancing with an ex-girlfriend at gay clubs(back in my skinnier days). Yet I can still completely understand were my friends on Marunde are coming from. There is nothing wrong if you like “bear” type men, just like I prefer blonde women with athletic bodies, but that does mean its ok for you to post “stolen” pics of guys and talk about the sexually explicit things you want to do with them. I say stolen because I’m fairly certain you did not get permission from these individuals in the pictures to post them, so in a sense you are violating their right to privacy. I will not say there are no homo-phobes on Marunde, but majority of them could probably care less about gay men and who they like. But from my own experience and as many on Marunde stated, when gay men hit on us it tends to be in a very crude manner and is not appreciated. I would take it as a compliment if a gay man simply said I looked good or had nice arms, or whatever but its rather uncalled for when they come up to you or send you online messages talking about how they want to suck and fuck my muscle body! If your not willing to step back and see how straight men do not like this kind of attention then its quite obvious who is intolerant.

  8. I just want to focus on what you said here:

Do you know how many media outlets straight men have? You have your Maxims, you have your Playboys, you have Victoria’s Secret Catalogs, and even Mr. Skin (http://www.mrskin.com/) which is a pay-site where they post screenshots of naked female celebrities for the enjoyment of predominantly paying straight males.

We are a group of gay males and WOMEN (believe it or not, women love big men too) who admire big men. If you notice, most of my photos are not explicit by nature. At the most they are shirtless. Most importantly, these are images that are available to anyone. I do not only post about Strongmen, as our attractions cover a broad spectrum. And, most importantly, by being active strongmen and involved in such competitions, your photos and videos are available for ALL viewing public. The thing is, you might not want to call yourself homophobic, but you are. You want to place a limitation as to who could share these photos and videos.

Speaking of which. That’s what I’m doing. Sharing. Specifically, sharing to whoever would read this blog that this person is simply beautiful.

That’s it. Is that a crime?

But, no. You believe that by doing so, I’m instigating others to become obscene to you. Guess what? I do not control others. As I’ve said before, for one obscene gay bear, there’s 1,000 obscene straight men. I’m no statistician but I’m being generous with the numbers there.

We are all human beings. We have our attractions. Mines are “bigger men.” Show me anywhere in this blog where I “talk about the sexually explicit things you want to do with them.” I assure you, your eyes will bleed trying to find a post where I posted something like it. ALL of my comments pretty much range from an adolescent point of view: “OMG he is so hot.”

As for the others, well, as I have said, that’s them. As much as I cannot tell them what they can do, say, or feel, you cannot tell me what I can do, say, or feel, just as much as I could not tell you what to do say, or, feel.

It’s all about equality and reciprocity.

The thing is, what were you expecting for blasting gay bears (and by the way, not all gay bears are “fat & obscene” as stated by your forum)? Why not just ignore or tell the person that you do not appreciate what they’re saying to you. Just like any problems you might have, how do you resolve them? Do you post it on your predominantly straight forum then whine about it? What resolution are you going to get from that?

Are you really that troubled by it? Because if you are, then that’s pretty gay.

    1. Even though my reply was posted to you, my references were meant to general members of your website not just to things you have personally posted or said, but i didn’t clarify that i guess.

“You have your Maxims, you have your Playboys, you have Victoria’s Secret Catalogs, and even Mr. Skin”
      – these are sites using materials where the people shown were paid and knowingly displayed. On the other hand, many of the pictures on this site were taken off websites that were not posted for sexual use. I understand that once something gets put on the web, it can end up anywhere and everywhere, but I’m sure you could understand if the person would not be happy about it.

“The thing is, you might not want to call yourself homophobic, but you are.”
      – would love to hear your explanation for this one. Considering you don’t know anything about me other than I am a strongman, that is a pretty strong statement.

“The thing is, what were you expecting for blasting gay bears (and by the way, not all gay bears are “fat & obscene” as stated by your forum)? – As i stated before, your attitude is showing the same intolerance that you are bitching about. You are lumping me in with everyone on the Marunde board, acting as though I am a “bear” basher because im apart of that community.
      – As for ignoring the comments that come my way, I usually do just that and go about my business. But why should I(or anyone for that matter) have to deal with or try to ignore crude comments coming from gay guys. I have to say i have never heard a man walk up to a women at a bar and say “I would love to fuck you”, but i have gotten that comment from a gay man before. Its just uncalled for, towards any gender. I’m not saying all gay men do this, but I know several men who have similar experiences.
-As for Jay “whining” about this situation, I don’t think that is what he was doing at all. Its called venting, and he even did it in a humorous way. The end of his original post says “For the rest of you guys I hope you can all find humor in this, and humor in the fact that I said something that you have been wanting to say, but just didn’t have the gems to say LOL…” Jay and I are not buddies, but i have met him before and I’m pretty sure he is secure with himself and his sexuality. But after a while, those comments that you(general) seem to think we should just ignore get a little old.

Long story short: To all Bear lovers, look at who you like but do everyone a favor and try to hold back the crude statements on facebook, youtube, etc. unless you know they are wanted. Thats all the discussion on Marunde was meant to be.

  9. “Even though my reply was posted to you, my references were meant to general members of your website not just to things you have personally posted or said, but i didn’t clarify that i guess.”

Fair enough. However, put yourself in my situation. What if you have a “Tall, Red-Haired Female Website” and all you posted were “tall and red-haired” females and then all of a sudden, you get some angry “tall, red-haired” female accusing your blog and its members for being rude to them and treating them as explicit sex objects. But, then, all you have are photos of women from the internet that you have collected and you did not place any nudity at all. What would you feel?

“- these are sites using materials where the people shown were paid and knowingly displayed. I understand that once something gets put on the web, it can end up anywhere and everywhere, but I’m sure you could understand if the person would not be happy about it.”

You missed my whole point. How many sites are out there that sexualizes strongmen? Point is, is there a “Strongman Maxim” or a “Strongman Playgirl”? Another point is that we do not have such an outlet such as straight men do. I created this blog specifically because we do not have such “benefits” such as you have.

“- would love to hear your explanation for this one. Considering you don’t know anything about me other than I am a strongman, that is a pretty strong statement.”

You are right. I do not know you. However, you just came in here and called me “intolerant.” Might as well call me heterophobic.

“- As i stated before, your attitude is showing the same intolerance that you are bitching about. You are lumping me in with everyone on the Marunde board, acting as though I am a “bear” basher because im apart of that community.”

See? “Intolerance.” Like you said, I do not know you. Yet here you are calling me intolerant and calling my blog sexually-explicit. Please do not mistake porn and admiration. This site is predominantly to admire such types of people… And I’m sorry if I sounded like I limped you in to the “bear basher” category. I did not mean to. I was just responding to what you’re saying.

“- As for ignoring the comments that come my way, I usually do just that and go about my business. So what do you think we need to do? Because the only thing I can think of is to place them in concentration camps so that they won’t bother you anymore. Again, those gay people who do that to you are personally fucked up human beings. I am ashamed for them and I feel extremely sorry that they would do such things to you. Unfortunately, as I have said quite a number of times, they are their own persons. All I can hope for is that they stopped doing that.

“-As for Jay “whining” about this situation, I don’t think that is what he was doing at all. Its called venting, and he even did it in a humorous way. But after a while, those comments that you(general) seem to think we should just ignore get a little old.”

I don’t really see the difference between “whining” and “venting” except “venting” sounds more masculine while “whining” is very definitely gay. He has every right to vent about it. Anyway, I was not aware that this issue was of epidemic proportions that ignoring the advances of an obscene gay man “get(s) a little old.” Again, what can be done about it? It’s definitely a tough question to answer.

So, in a way, I’m glad you have aired your opinions here and I am very welcoming to it. I might get a bit defensive but I do pay close attention to what’s being said. With that, I completely understand his issue and I do hope that these gay men would control themselves. That’s really all we can hope for.

    1. OK, I’ve read that Jay guy’s original post on Marunde and all the (mostly) hateful replies and this thread (obviously). And I love big men and this website. Who are these guys trying to kid? Part of the whole point of what they do is to objectify themselves and each other. Whether that’s also in a sexual way, I suppose only they (and possibly their therapists) know for sure.

But to live in this dreamworld to be shocked (disgusted, even) that another dude would find them attractive, it rings a little insincere to me. But maybe they really are that stupid. So there’s nothing sexual about getting a bunch of your bodybuilding buddies together for a group shave session. Nope. Nothing kinky about that at all.

And sorry, but if you’re going to gay bars with your “girlfriend” or your “sister” or whatever beard you choose to make yourself feel more comfortable and another guy comes up to you and makes a pass at you or talks raunchily in your general direction, um, you’re in a frickin’ GAY BAR!!!! It’s a hyper-sexualized place anyway, just like any frickin’ bar is. What do you expect? You’ve worked this hard to look this good and you’re shocked/offended when somebody of the same gender comes on to you IN A GAY BAR???? Give me a break. Insecure much?

And even though *some* of you (general) bulky boys are ragingly homophobic douches, I’m pretty sure that a lot of you like the attention, even though you doth protest a lot. Plus, if it weren’t for us bears, cubs, bear lovers, etc, I think attendance at your events would be a lot more anemic. Where do you think most of your hardcore audience comes from anyway? Oh yeah. Right. Those millions of totally straight dudes who don’t watch you because of your muscles or your bulk. They’re interested in the “sport.” Right. And I read 100% BEEF for the articles. Suuurre.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t think anyone should be harassed by anybody else. But I don’t think most of your interactions with gay guys amount to harassment or stalking, as a few of the Marunde meatheads mentioned. Again, though, if you’re in a gay bar, you’re going to have to expect a few comments that would make your prudish ears purple and offend your tender sensibilities.

Don’t worry, though. There’s nothing that turns me off more than some overgrown steroid baby (woops, that’s right, you guys are ALL natural) with an oversized sense of himself with major inferiority/compensation issues.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this site (I believe all the photos are credited, as much as possible), any more than any other site where people post photos and make comments about them. It doesn’t amount to an invasion of privacy. You gave up that right when you POSTED YOUR PHOTOS ON THE INTERNET IN THE FIRST PLACE. You may be spending too much time around the dumbbells to realize that, but that’s what the Interwebz is. Stuff gets posted, everybody can see it, unless it’s behind a wall somewhere. Duh.

  10. And bravo to the admin of this site for keeping it going despite all this crap that you threw at him. Thanks so much, bearmythology, for soldiering on. You’re a real man, unlike some of those insecure muscleheads.
