Robert Kirkman is drop dead gorgeous. Before I had an inkling of what a “bear” was (specifically from the LGBTQ community), all I knew was that I was attracted towards husky and fuzzy men. And, yes, basically, Robert Kirkman pretty much fits the perfect archetypal model of such a bearish man. Well, at least, in my personal preference and opinion, of course…
Anyway, the series premiere of his fantastic graphic novel “The Walking Dead” will finally be on AMC on Halloween Day and I am eagerly excited for it. Here are two videos of him from an AMC Special where he talks about the evolution of his graphic novel to the small screen as well as him giving us a tour from the series’ film set…
I’m a big fan of bizarre and offbeat humor. My favorite is/was The Perry Bible Fellowship (unfortunately the website’s gone now); however, a suitable replacement is the clever Married To The Sea and Superpoop which are created by a married couple, Drew and Natalie Dee.
One of my secret dreams is to be a cartoonist. Unfortunately, I can’t even draw a straight line. In the meantime, let’s do a little bit of metahumor by combining some Married To The Sea/Superpoop comics/photos with my collection of bearish/chubby screenshots/photos. Did you get a headache/rolly-eyes yet with all of that forward slashes? I hope you did and I’m calling this type of subgenre of BearFic as a BearComicSlashFic. -_^

Like I said, I have a “very different” type of humor. As I was inspired by Drew and Natalie Dee’s creations, here’s my attempt… Please be nice. 😛
Film Threat was my very first introduction to magazines that catered to independent filmmaking. I had dreams of becoming a filmmaker who would one day retire with 28 films under my resumé — of course, all Bear-related in some way or other, dammit! Ah, well, I guess things did not work out as planned. Lol… Anyway, Film Threat is now strictly a webzine and its current Editor-In-Chief is the amazingly cute Mark Bell.
Anyway, in the recent SXSW Film Festival, he had posted this in his blog:
Later on in the evening, after Don was out of his screening, the three of us re-convened (with Nathan Zellner) at a Next New Network Party where the main draw was, for me at least, the opportunity to play Rock Band on a stage. Drinks were free, and I signed up to get some Rock Band’ing going. Technical difficulties ensued, however, and I never got to play. I did try to help solve said difficulties, even going on stage to calibrate the game. The highlight though: a challenge / proposition was thrown out to allow anyone who wanted to promote their website or business to do so on stage, if they took their top off. The idea was obviously aimed at women, as the first person to accept disrobed to be in only her bra and pants, but I wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip by. When they asked for a final volunteer, I stepped up, took my shirt off (throwing the white balance off on cameras everywhere) and proceeded to pimp Film Threat and independent film. I apologize for anyone who saw that, but as anyone knows, I do not miss any opportunity to promote Film Threat. For fuck’s sake, I’m a walking billboard for the company, rarely seen without the logo on my person somewhere. I’d get it tattoo’ed if I didn’t think that was an unlucky idea (you know, like adding your girlfriend’s name or something).
First of all, Mr. Editor Bell, it’s “tattooed” and not “tattoo’ed.” Hrmph. Yeah, I’m just jealous since I wish I was doing his job. Lol. Anyway, why am I dwelling on that minor thing? I meen OMG Mark Bell toke hiz sheert off!
A year from now (3/6/09), the very first comic book to ever win the Hugo Award (in 1988) will be unleashed as a motion picture: Alan Moore’s Watchmen. I read about this from a CHUD article and I — and the rest of the geek universe — instantly blew a collective wad of orgiastic ecstasy at the full character portraits that director Zack Snyder’s had revealed to us.
As for the bear-related part: The Comedian has been the only bearish character in the comic book and, boy, did they get him right:
The first time I really noticed Jeffrey Dean Morgan (aka the cuter Javier Bardeem) was when I brought my mom to see P.S. I Love You on her birthday. The movie bored me to dried tears, but I found myself strangely attracted to Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character. He was definitely not my type, but there was something about him. Anyway, finding out that he is playing The Comedian and actually seeing him in that static full regalia, well, consider me stoked and call me “nerd.”
I used to spend most of my online activity at movie sites back in the day. I still do, but not as much. Anyway, I used to post for quite a bit on what I still think is the best news site for movies: CHUD.com.
One of the Editors of this site is the ever woofy, Devin Faraci. I love this guy as he’s extremely passionate to the point that he could come off as a dickwad or an asshole — take your prick. The thing is, I love him even further because of that. Some message board posters love to bash him, especially about his looks and weight. All I can say is that they’re not seeing what I’m seeing. Mr. Faraci’s a sexy bear stud, hands down. Proof? Here’s a collage of him from G4’s Attack of the Show’s “Loop Week in Review”:
Ah, yes, Mr. Faraci just keeps getting hotter and hotter…
True story. A few years back, I happened to mention via live chat about some bonehead calling me a “hag” but starting with the letter “f” (sorry, but *that* word’s filtered). Next thing I knew, he was up and arms and wanted to know who it was so that he could have that poster banned from the site. I refused to tell him as I did not want to be a “whiny sissy” about the whole situation, but I’ll never forget how he wanted to defend me. So, yeah, that little gay little girl* within me fell in love with such chivalry.
If you guys (and gals) want to read insightful movie reviews, make sure to check out Mr. Faraci’s articles. I normally agree with him, and if I don’t, his opinions are still a great read: full of wit, sarcasm, and charm.
And with that, I’d like to embarrass him with a video he recorded live for a handful of us Chewers (term used for the CHUD.com readers/posters) during one of our daily night chat sessions. Boy, was I glad I was awake on that Thursday night. At 10pm. On February 20. 2003. Lol. Hey. The video’s date-stamped, you fokkers! -_^
